Community and Family Storage LLC (CFS), is a business. But we’re also a Social Enterprise!
Social enterprises are revenue-generating businesses with a twist. Whether operated by a non-profit organization or by a for-profit company, a social enterprise has two goals: to achieve social, cultural, community economic and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue.
Like all Social Enterprises, Community and Family Storage is first and foremost a business. Our customers’ satisfaction with our service is paramount. Customers entrust their storage needs to us with the expectation of security, safety and ease of access.
On the surface, many social enterprises look, feel, and operate like traditional businesses. But looking more deeply, the defining characteristic of the social enterprise is, rather than earning profits for an owner, monies earned are reinvested back into the community.
At Community and Family Storage our mission is to provide assistance to the homeless in our community. All profits generated by the Storage business are split between Family Promise of Summit County and Community Support Services Alphonso W. Turner Homeless Outreach Center, both of which work directly with the homeless population in Akron and the immediate surrounding area.
Every dollar earned at CFS stays in our community to help these two organizations. After operating expenses, your monthly fees generate monies that help feed and shelter homeless families, provide services for those with mental illnesses, refer to job placement or vocational rehabilitation services where appropriate.
